East Spencer is a town in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. It is located in the Piedmont region of the state, approximately 40 miles northeast of Charlotte. The town has a population of around 1,500 people and covers an area of 0.8 square miles.
East Spencer was incorporated in 1906 and is named after Samuel Spencer, the president of the Southern Railway at the time. The town has a rich history in the railroad industry, with the Southern Railway maintaining a large operations center there until the mid-20th century.
